Colin Poole
CO-FOUNDER & NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In 1959 Colin started work in the scaffolding industry, where he quickly worked his way up the ranks. In 1967, at the age of 24, Colin left England and moved to South Africa on a contract for a large British scaffolding company. After two years, he decided to settle permanently in South Africa and continue building his career in the scaffolding and formwork industry.
Over the next 27 years Colin grew from Supervisor, to Manager, to Branch Manager in the industry, working on major scaffolding contracts at Power Stations, in the Cape Town Harbour and various Commercial, Industrial and Residential Construction projects.
In 1984, at the age of 40, Colin started his own company with two partners, which grew to become one of Cape Town's most reputable and successful scaffolding and formwork contractors & suppliers. As Managing Director, Colin ran the company successfully for 25 years. During this time was joined by Peter Harper and David Poole, who assisted him in growing the business to become a highly competitive and service driven scaffolding supplier.
After 38 years, Colin decided to change direction and co-founded Alpine Scaffolding, with David Poole and Peter Harper. With over 62 years of experience in the scaffolding industry, Colin brings invaluable experience and expertise to the Alpine brand.
